More knee troubles unfortunately, very frustrating.  Should be about 5 weeks into training now but have only been out for a handful of runs..  Keeping fit by cycling and swimming so hopefully will get straight back into it when the time is right..

London Feilds Lido

London Fields Lido was stunning this morning in the sunshine.  Rapidly becoming my favourite place in London, despite almost swallowing a couple of leaves.  The cycle ride past Victoria Park and along the Regents Canal to get there is rather nice also.

Official bloater

I am a porker (BMI over 25) according to the strange triffid like machine at work. More training obviously needed so went to the gym.. just a short 5km on the treadmill - and the knee still feels fine, well chuffed, will start to ramp up the mileage soon... Havent drunk since Sunday and no junk food of any description, unsurprisingly I feel very well indeed!

London Marathon 2012

Ok, so I'm going to turn this into a running blog for a few months. A sudden return to running 3 years ago after about a 20 year break has ended up getting more and more serious. After some encouraging results this summer it seemed like there wasn't going to be a better time to try and run 26.2 miles.

Never thought I'd ever try a marathon so it seems a bit strange to be signed up for London next year. Training has been great over the summer but just recently took a big turn for the worse as I idiotically did this run: http://g.co/maps/4ud5d then played football the next day for the Accies. Lo and behold I've done something painful to my knee (hobbling around on and off for about 3 weeks, but its been feeling better recently). Physio reckons it might be fine - though theres a possibility its a cartilage tear. Either way I think Im going to press on - I was lucky to get a place and I think the Physio thinks that even with a bit of rehab i'll still be able to do it.. Since then Matty Rowbury has challenged Fowler to a marathon showdown (Matty ran for UCL - so I have my work cut out!) GAME ON!!

Steamboat Springs Winter Festival, 2009

Well, its been a while since my last post but I'm keen to start up The Gazelle once more. IT contracting has stiffled any major travelling recently, but I did pop over to see my good friend Dee in Colorado for a spot of Snowboarding and to catch the Winter Festival.

They think it's all over...

And that concludes Fowler's travel diary. No major hassles between Fiji and London - the overnight stay in LA was fine but a bit of jet lag is being experienced now. Unfortunately it wasn't feasible to work back at the MaC at the Hammersmith so it is back to reality with a bump and some serious job hunting, though it has been brilliant to see loved ones again after so long!

The whole trip seems like a distant dream already - but Fowler is determined not to forget a second of it (even the unpleasant bits!). Meanwhile Burdett is still travelling and there have been sightings of him throughout SE Asia and now Sydney. According to sources he will be returning in September!

Manta Ray Resort, Nanuya Balavu, Yasawas, Fiji

Fowler stayed here for a couple of nights - specifically to watch the England v Paraguay game. Typically the staellite TV was on the blink so he had to make do with snorkelling and reading in a big hammock on the beach - and also met some great people. Posted by Picasa

Friendly Fiji

The staff at Botaira were really good fun and it made for an enjoyable time there. Posted by Picasa

Felix

Felix and Fowler demolished their extremely fresh (2 hours old) fish from the fishing expedition, it really did taste good. Posted by Picasa

Catch of the day, Botaira, Naviti

Joe (pictured), Felix and Fowler went off snorkelling and spear fishing in the bay - and this was the end result! Posted by Picasa

Sunset at Botaira Beach, Naviti, Fiji

Botaira was a secluded idylic and uncrowded place to stay with lots of fish, stunning coral reef 30 metres from shore and the clearest water Fowler had ever seen. Posted by Picasa
